I’m listening to Delta Goodrem’s Innocent Eyes album after…wow, 9 years. I always thought in the song ‘Predictable’ the lyrics were:
‘You’re just so predictable, in every way. I, I want you to know I know you’re gay.’
I spent the entire 7th grade thinking how the song was about some guy who pretended to love her because he didn’t want anyone to know that he was gay.
He tried so hard to be the perfect boyfriend, but she figured out what he was doing.
‘And when I turn around, you’re always there. Like that’s the proof you really care. But I see right through you…’
He was scared that she would tell everyone, so he still wanted to make it up to her, but she was so hurt and angry that she wasn’t having any of it.
‘I run, you say you won’t give up the chase. You say you’ll follow me any place. So you can make the same mistakes. You know just what to do, and how to use the best of you to try and change my mind. But my eyes are opening this time. And I read you…’
And her anger just got worse.
‘Now that I know your every move, how you gonna hide, baby? What you gonna do? Now that somebody knows the truth about you…You won’t get away with loving me…’
I wondered how was this song released? It’s just so mean..
But now I know that it’s not gay, it’s game.
